Lori A. Hill-Sanders is a native of Detroit, a graduate of Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts Degree in Guidance and Counseling.
Lori Sanders is currently the Executive Director of Disability Network Wayne County Detroit where experience and peer support are combined to deliver services. Disability Network Wayne County Detroit promotes, connects and educates people with disabilities while providing them with resources and advocacy for social change. Their vision is a community that values disability as a human diversity free of attitudinal barriers, where all people benefit with full access and inclusion. Under her direction, the Disability Network has become more effective in fulfilling its mission and is better prepared to face current and future challenges. Her transformational initiatives have led to improved financial stability and have expanded the reach of lifesaving services.
Lori Sanders is the former Executive Director of the Taylor Reading Corps. The Taylor Reading Corps is a 501(c) (3), volunteer-based organization that is committed to enhancing the learning opportunity of children in the Taylor School District through the recruitment, training and sustainment of a network or volunteers. Lori is an Adjunct Professor at Wayne County Community College in the Leadership Development Program and she has provided Nonprofit Management and Business Development Services for organizations and business in Southeast Michigan.
Lori Sanders was also the Executive Director of Urban Services and Development Organization, a non-profit501(c) (3), community-based organization that offers life skills training, employment and training, guidance and counseling and other supportive services to address barriers for youth, individuals and families and within this capacity she is responsible for program development, management and operations within the organization for 7years. Ms. Sanders has more than 15 years of experience providing community services to disadvantaged youth individuals and families in the Detroit Metropolitan and Oakland County. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor that has provided individuals and group counseling services since 1999.
Lori Sanders began her career as the Director of a Day Care Program where she developed, implemented and directed the Head Start Program and after school Enrichment Programs. Ms. Sanders has always had a strong passion for the development, implementation and supervision of early childhood development programs and furthered her career as a child care center consultant and an Advisory Board Member of the Angel Land Child Centers and Parent Institute.
Lori Sanders has also developed programs which help Michigan parolees, successfully reintegrate into Detroit neighborhoods and the labor market. These programs have reduced crime, unemployment, and recidivism rates through the development and implementation of programs that provided reentry planning, intensive case management, job readiness, life skills training and job search activities. These programs provided comprehensive services that addressed the needs of incarcerated adults and juveniles with an emphasis to enhance education, while focusing on family reunification and community safety.
Lori Sanders has been and is currently active with numerous area and national service organizations including American Association of University Women, National Association of Workforce Development Professionals, American Counseling Association, McKinney Foundation, Detroit Golf Society and Board Member of University Development Corporation and with great honor as a Taylor Rotarian and member of the Downriver Chamber of Commerce.
Lori Sanders is a Certified Business Service Professional from Michigan State University’s School of Labor and Industrial Relation. She has been responsible for providing business development expertise which includes strategic planning, fund development, marketing, lean production and manufacturing diversification for non-profit and for-profit organizations in Southeast Michigan.
